Recently, the translation of the liturgical book “Parakletike” into the Korean language was completed by the Korean Gregory Park No-Yang after many years of work. The same person has previously translated the books “Triodion” and “Pentecostarion.”

As is well known, the “Parakletike” holds a most central position in the annual liturgical cycle because it is used almost daily throughout the year. Its use ceases only during the period from the Sunday of the Publican and the Pharisee until before the Vespers of the Sunday of All Saints. For this reason, Metropolitan Ambrosios of Korea, during the presentation to the faithful on Sunday, November 2—specifically during the communal agape meal—of the translation of this highly significant liturgical treasure, described the translation of the “Parakletike” as a historic event for the Church in Korea. He warmly thanked the translator and, on this occasion, referred to the “feat,” as he called it, of the translation by the ever-memorable Most Reverend Sotirios of Pisidia, formerly of Korea, and his team of collaborators, of many liturgical books, either in full or in parts. Thus, with great joy and emotion, the Metropolitan noted that today, apart from the Menaia, the remaining liturgical books of the Orthodox Church have been translated into the Korean language.
