St. Nicholas Cathedral’s members meetings

Meeting of a group of elderly couples

On Monday, November 6, 2023, members of the senior couples group of St. Nicholas Cathedral in Seoul held their autumn lunch meeting at a restaurant in Yeouido.

Gazing at the clear autumn sky and the white clouds flying high from the 50th floor of the restaurant, they gratefully praised God for the beautiful world He has given us. The meeting was also an excellent opportunity to promote brotherly communication among the members and strengthen their bonds.

Meeting of members of the Choir

On Saturday, November 11, 2023, the members of the choir of the Cathedral of St. Nicholas met in the hospitable Hall of the Metropolis.

After the choir’s practice, Metropolitan Ambrosios of Korea and Exarch of Japan analyzed to the choir members the advice of the Apostle Paul: “Sing in your assemblies psalms and hymns and spiritual odes; sing with your heart to the Lord” (Eph. 5:19). Among other things, he pointed out the danger of developing a “habit” by the participants in the Church’s worship and explained that “he who does not sing with his tongue alone, but he who has his mind attentively set on understanding what is being sung, sings with his heart.” He then commented on certain points from the Typikon of the Holy Services of the Orthodox Church and the important role the choir members play in the harmonious celebration of the Divine Liturgy.

After that, the choir members participated in Saturday’s Great Vespers and all had dinner together. Fr. Roman Kavchak and Fr. Anthony Lim with Presbytera Lillian and Theodote participated in the Dinner. To those who had their Name Day on November 8 and 9, Gabriella, Michael, and Nectaria, everyone wished them a happy Name Day and many happy returns.
