Exhibition of Byzantine Icons

On Sunday of All Saints (23/6/2019), after the Divine Liturgy, the Exhibition of Byzantine Icons was held in the courtyard of the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Seoul, with works by the students participating in the Iconography classes from May 15th to June 22nd.

At the opening ceremony of the Exhibition, the Metropolitan of Korea thanked the professor – Iconographer Mr. Sozos Yannoudis and the participating students, stressing that the marvelous result of the Iconography of excellent Byzantine icons within a short time is due to the methodical and systematic teaching of their teacher, but also due to the zeal and diligence of the students. Teacher and students worked hard from Monday to Saturday (9:00 am – 8:00 pm). Particular mention was made of the four Taiwanese students who traveled from Taiwan to Korea exclusively to participate in the Iconography lessons. Apart from the aforementioned Taiwanese, the program also attended four Russians and eleven Koreans.

The exhibition will last until Saturday 29 June.

Everyone’s wish is for this significant program to be repeated next year, so that more and more students come into contact with the sacred world of Byzantine Iconography.
