Open Invitation

This year, 2020, with the blessing of HAH the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, and with heartfelt gratitude to God as well as a deep sense of pastoral responsibility, we will celebrate the 120th anniversary of Orthodoxy in the Korean Peninsula (1900-2020).

During the year 2020, with the help of God, there will be various commemorative events at the Korean Orthodox Metropolis and Exarchate of Japan, by showing respect to the historical truth of the events and the people, from the first person to the last one, who worked to spread the Orthodox witness in Korea.

Our invitation is addressed to all people of good will, clergy and lay alike, from the Orthodox Churches of Russia, Australia, America, New Zealand and Greece, who have played an essential role in the founding and progress of our Korean Orthodox Church. We invite everyone to participate, as members of the Holy Church of Christ, in a spirit of brotherhood,  leaving aside any nationalistic blinders, in celebrating this historic anniversary.

The festivities will kick off in Seoul from the 21st to the 23rd of February 2020.
