On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the Metropolitan Ambrosios of Korea and Exarch of Japan, accompanied by Rev. Fr. Antonios Lim, participated in the inauguration of the Korea Christian History & Culture Museum.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives of the Korean government, the Mayor of Seoul, leaders of various Churches, and many other dignitaries.
In his address, the Metropolitan of Korea stated the following:
“The establishment of a Christian Museum in a non-Christian country of the Far East, such as Korea, holds far greater significance than it would in a Christian country of the West.
This is because a Christian Museum in a non-Christian country is, above all, a testimony to the Christian faith. In other words, the Christian Museum we are inaugurating today is not only of historical and artistic significance but, most importantly, missionary in nature. It holds great importance for the present and future of Christianity in Korea.
For this reason, as the Orthodox Church, we have participated with enthusiasm from the very beginning of this endeavor and have wholeheartedly supported the establishment of this Museum.
As I congratulate all those who have worked tirelessly from the start until today to bring this project to fruition, I would like to convey the warm wishes and heartfelt congratulations of His All-Holiness, our Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, for the complete success of the Museum’s objectives.
Finally, in my dual capacity as Metropolitan of Korea and Exarch of Japan, as well as President of the NCCK, I pray that this Museum becomes an occasion for greater cooperation among Christians in Korea, which will contribute to the unity of the Churches.
Once again, warm congratulations!”
