On Monday, July 17, 2023, at the Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos in the city of Jeonju, a group of Iconographers from Greece, together with volunteer assistants from Korea and Taiwan, under the general supervision and guidance of the well-known Iconographer Professor Mr. Sozos Giannoudis, worked feverishly for the organization of the workshop, the final setting up of the scaffolding in the dome and in the niche of the church, but also many other technical details.
The work of painting the holy church began in the morning with a prayer, during which the Metropolitan of Korea and the Dean of the parish Fr. Hilarion Jeong recited a special prayer to the Lord and the Most Holy Theotokos for the painters and their assistants, as well as for those who are responsible for preparing the food for more than forty participants in the project.
The Metropolitan thanked all the participants and wished them health and strength to bring to a happy end this very important sacred work for the life of the Church in Korea.
