Recently, an unholy attack has been launched by the Egyptian government against the Holy Monastery of St Catherine in Sinai, which is the oldest Christian monastery in the world.

This historic monastery is located at the foot of Mount Horeb, where Moses ascended to receive from God the 10 Commandments. It is built on the site where God appeared to Moses, namely the burning but unburned Bush (See Exodus 3:1-4). 

This Monastery was not harmed over the centuries by various conquerors who passed through the area. Even Muhammad himself, the founder of the Muslim religion, took it under his protection. Unfortunately, however, the current Egyptian government does not respect a regime that has been in place for over 1500 years, and wants to change the way it operates.

Let us pray that God, through the intercession of Saint Catherine, will enlighten those in power so that the unacceptable plans which have been initiated against the Monastery and its Monks do not go ahead.
