Korean Syndesmos Holds Three-Day Retreat

From 21-23 July 2017, the members of the young adult group, “Syndesmos,” of the Orthodox Church of Korea, held their annual summer retreat.  This is the 8th consecutive year for the retreat, which was held at the parish of St. Boris in Chuncheon.

The retreat theme was, “Contemporary technology and human relationships.”  Five presentation/discussion sessions, led by His Eminence Metropolitan Ambrosios of Korea, by Deacon Perry Hamalis, by Deacon Johan Park, and by Eleni Cho, covered topics including marriage and family life, cell phones, social media, the pros and cons of today’s technology upon our relationships with one another, and the measures that need to be taken in order to avoid the spiritual dangers that can easily develop and threaten the icon of God, the human person.

Over 40 young adults participated in the engaging retreat, including 6 current catechumens of the Orthodox Church of Korea. Those who attended came from several local parishes including St. Nicholas Cathedral (Seoul), St. Paul (Incheon), St. St. Dionysios of Aegina (Ulsan) and St. Boris (Chuncheon).
