On the evening of the Holy Fathers’ Sunday (1.6.2025), an event was held at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Seoul to commemorate the historic 1700th anniversary of the convening of the First Ecumenical Council in Nicaea (325).
The event was attended by members of the NCCK, during which Metropolitan Ambrose of Korea and Exarch of Japan, as President of the NCCK, took responsibility for the main speech, in which the following was said, among other things:
The 1700th anniversary of the convening of the First Ecumenical Council is an opportunity to love and embrace unity. And we must all strive to preserve the right faith, but also the right unity in our daily relations with each other and in our culture. We should strive to preserve the unity of love, which respects diversity, the distinction of others, guided by what the Lord said in his high priestly prayer: “they may be one just as We are one”(Jn 17:22). Amen.
