On Saturday, September 21, 2024, the visit to the parish of St. Boris in Chuncheon and to the Holy Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior in Gapyeong by His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholaos of Messogaia and Lavreotiki as well as his Chancellor V. Rev. Fr. Michael Lioumis was a particularly great blessing.
In the parish of St. Boris he was welcomed by the parish priest Fr. Jeremiah Cho with the Presbytera Anastasia Park and the faithful. A short prayer service was held in the church, at the end of which Metropolitan Ambrosios of Korea welcomed the visitors. Metropolitan Nicholaos reciprocated by expressing his joy and emotion. Afterwards they were shown around the camp facilities and then they had the opportunity to communicate with members of the Parish and enjoy their warm hospitality.
The visit to Chuncheon City was concluded with an aerial tour of the city (teleferic), and a traditional meal at a local restaurant.
The next stop of the trip was a pilgrimage to the Holy Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior in Gapyeong. First, His Eminence Nicholaos celebrated a Memorial Service at the grave of the late Metropolitan of Pisidia, former of Korea, Soterios. Later, the guests met with Fr. Anthony Woo, Sister Agathi Paik and the faithful at the Archodariki, who often participate in the Services at the monastery. The Service of the Great Vespers followed, during which His Eminence Nicholaos presided and gave a miningful speech. The visit ended with a dinner. Almost all the discussions revolved around the person of the Metropolitan Soterios, whose presence, two years after his death, remains very strong.
